About the Position

Berman Hebrew Academy is a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School seeking dynamic educators for the 2024-2025 school year. We are a warm and inclusive community of learners– students, educators, administrators, and staff offering a private Jewish education to children from Early Childhood – 12th Grade all together on one beautiful campus.

We are seeking an Educational Student Support Teacher (or Resource teacher) beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least three years of relevant experience teaching students with learning differences.
  • Expertise in best practices for supporting students with learning differences in both mainstream and Resource classrooms.
  • Strong knowledge of learning theory, differentiated instruction, accommodations, and research-based strategies.
  • Ability to model, promote, and collaborate on best instructional practices with classroom teachers.
  • Understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of high school students with learning differences.
  • Effective communicator who values collaboration and teamwork, with parents and colleagues.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning including openness to feedback, for continuous professional growth, and targeted professional development in Special Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or equivalent
  • A Maryland/DC/Virginia teaching certification in Special Education
  • Knowledge of Hebrew and/or Judaic Studies

Salary and Benefits

This is a full time position and the annual salary range is approximately $50,000 – $80,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include eligibility for health, dental, vision, and disability insurances. The school provides generous paid time off and immediate enrollment in a 403(b) plan (including a match after two years of employment).
