Berman Cross Country 9/25/24 By Dara Kagan ’27
The Berman Cougars had their third cross country meet at Sandy Spring Friends School on Wednesday, September 25th. One of the most exciting outcomes of the meet was the number of PRs (personal records) that were broken. Unlike the last meet at Sandy, when the temperature was close to 90 degrees, today’s meet was misty, rainy, and muddy. The girls started first, with the boys taking off 45 minutes later. The course was a challenging 3.1-mile loop filled with steep hills and muddy terrain.
After the starting pistol went off, the racers ran straight into the woods and navigated through an even larger trail in the woods. Next, they went around the soccer field. After about two miles of running in the bigger woods and around the big soccer field, the end was in sight. They pushed themselves toward the finish line as they heard their coach, Coach Margulies, yelling at them to sprint. Amalie Heching (‘27) said, “Today’s cross country meet was very difficult because of the rain and mud, yet it was a great experience and I [got a PR]!”.
The team’s next meet will be at Sandy again, where they aim to improve on this week’s performance.
