⚽ Boys Varsity Soccer Game: September 4, 2024 ⚽ Final score: Berman 2, JDS 2
Coming into this friendly scrimmage, JDS was heavily favored to win as a mighty Division I PVAC team versus a Division II Berman Cougars. However, your Cougars came out swinging and scored the first goal of the game to take an early lead. Eitan Janus ’25 slammed the goalie kick down the middle to Ariel Hasan ’25 who took a few dribbles and made a swift pass to Gabey Margulies ’26. Margulies received the ball, took a dribble to control himself, and put it on the bottom right corner just barely out of the goalie’s reach. However, with a few blunders on both ends of the field, JDS took a 2-1 lead going into the second half.
With an inspiring talk from Coach Jose Cocka, Berman came out looking like a different beast on both sides of the field. With dominant offense keeping the ball on JDS’s side and secure defense holding down the fort clearing it to the offense, Berman generated chance after chance and eventually Hasan got an open net off the Margulies throw in and did not waste the opportunity, putting in the top left in the last 2 minutes of the game to tie it up 2-2.
With some last minute clears, Berman held on to come out with the tie — an impressive first showing against a much higher seeded JDS team.
