By Eitan Janus ’25 and Dana Lazar ’25 Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer Games: Oct. 8-9, 2024 Boys Final Score: Berman 3, Field 1 Girls Final Score: Berman 2, Don Bosco 5
As another soccer season comes to an end, more senior nights are in the books. In the boys’ game, Gabey Margulies ’26 scored two goals to put Berman up 2-1 in the first half. Ariel Hasan ’25 scored, slid smoothly on his knees, got up and gave a massive chest bump to Eitan Janus ’25, all in an electrifying 30-second sequence. This deficit was too much for Field to overcome and Berman walked away with a 3-1 victory. Meanwhile, the girls played Don Bosco and got off to a rough start in the first half. However, they bounced back and won the second half with two goals to one. While it wasn’t enough to get the win, they put up a great fight en route to a 5-2 loss. However, that did not stop the post-game festivities. The seniors received posters made by their teammates, and, in return, the seniors gave paper plate awards to their younger teammates. The team passed around a can of pickle juice and each player took a sip, as per Berman tradition. “I just couldn’t hold back my tears, I just love my teammates, coaches, and this sport so much,” said Dana Lazar ’25. After all that, they finished off the ceremony with some delicious donuts and drinks. The boys had a festive night as well. Coach Jose, the boys varsity coach spoke after the game. With inspiring and heartfelt words from Coach Jose like “I like this guy,” “he listens well,” and even a “beHatzlacha,” the boys walked away with smiles on their faces and high hopes for the playoffs.
